It had been almost six months since I went abroad so I decided to go to Heidelberg to visit one of my friends because you know, I feel uneasy if I do not leave this country once every six months.
14 Mart'ta Atatürk Havaalanı'ndan Frankfurt Havaalanı'na Turkish Airlines ile uçtum. Biletim çok uygundu ve bu bir haftalık seyahat de bana çok pahalıya patlamayacaktı çünkü hem arkadaşımda kalacaktım hem de gittiğim yer ucuz bir şehirdi.
I flew from Ataturk Airport to Frankfurt Airport on the 14th of March with Turkish Airlines. The price of my ticket was convenient and this one week vacation would not cost me a lot since I would stay at my friend's home and the town I was going to was not expensive.
Frankfurt Havaalına'na indim ve P36'ya yürüdüm çünkü otobüs durakları oradaydı. İki çeşit otobüs vardı: biri sizi Frankfurt içerisinde gezdiriyor, biri de dışında. FlixBus aldım 6 euro'ya çünkü aynı yolculuk trenle 26 euro tutuyordu ve o kadar para vermeye gerek görmedim. Siz de aynısını yapabilirsiniz bence. Otobüs için bir saat beklemek zorunda kaldım erken gittiğim için ve sonrasında Heidelberg'e yolculuğum başladı.
I landed on Frankfurt Airport and walked to P36 where there were bus stops. There are two types of buses: the one that is used within Frankfurt and the one that takes you outside of the city. I was supposed to get on FlixBus and I bought it for 6 euros. You should also do the same thing since trains cost 26 euros for the same journey. I waited an hour because I arrived there early and then my trip to Heidelberg began.

The whole trip was only an hour and I can assure you that it was a lovely town. It is famous for its university and the castle. You can visit the oldest wine barrel in that castle. You should also visit the Old Bridge, Marktplatz, Church of the Holy Ghost, Student Jail and all the small lovely streets.
Daha sonra günübirlik Mannheim'a gidip geldik. Oraya gitmemizin en büyük sebebi Primark olmasaydı ancak gittiğimizde çok güzel bir Meksika restoranına da uğradık. Yolunuz düşerse siz de Azteca Mexicana'ya bir gidin derim.
Then we went to Mannheim for one day. The biggest reason why we went there was of course Primark but we also had our lunch at a Mexican restaurant named Azteca Mexicana. If you ever go there, I'd recommend you to try it.
Kısa ama bir o kadar da güzel vakit geçirdim. Bir sonraki rotam nereye olur ve ne zaman nereye giderim bilmiyorum ama şimdiden çok heyecanlıyım.
I had a short yet an amazing vacation. I do not know where I will go next or when it wil happen but I'm already excited.

I love counting down to Oscars night because it always makes me happy. It surely does not set standarts or praise a film and dispraise the rest. It is just a show but I would love it even more if I believed in their sincerity and equality.

Jimmy Kimmel was the host of this year and I wasn't sure if he would manage it but he did it well. His references to Trump, the way he underlined equality and his sense of humour were on point. He even promised to gift a jet ski for the shortest acceptance speech. It was a hilarious moment. He presented it along Helen Mirren. The winner was Mark Bridges at the end of the night.
Beni en çok şaşırtan ve geceyi özel kılan şey sadece Oscar'ın 90. doğum günü olması değildi. "A Wrinkle In Time" filmini seyredenlerden oluşan bir sinemaya gizli kamera koymuşlardı. Sinemaya giden seyirciler olmadan hiçbir şeyin önemli olmayacağını vurgulamak istemişlerdi çünkü sinema çift taraflı bir deneyim ve seyircileri ünlülerle şaşırtarak kutlamak istemişti Jimmy. Bazı konuklar onunla gitmeyi kabul etti ve giderken atıştırmalıklar da götürdüler. Önce Gal Gadot içeri girdi ve herkes tezahürat yaptı. One of the things that surprised me and rendered this night special was not only the fact that it was the 90th birthday of this event but also they hid cameras into a cinema where people were watching "A Wrinkle In Time". They wanted to emphasize the fact that without filmgoers, none of them would matter. The cinema is a mutual experience so he wanted to celebrate it by surprising them with the celebrities. Some of the guests went with Jimmy Kimmel and they brought snacks as well. First Gal Gadot entered and everyone cheered. Then the screen showed the people at the Oscars and they thanked the filmgoers. Later the other celebrities walked in handing out the snacks. It must have felt very different for the audience there. It's once in a lifetime experience!

I also want to mention Frances McDormand's acceptance speech. I love her so much and she is really talented. I'm still surprised at the fact that her film failed to win the "Best Picture" award. She wanted to show that equality matters and I hope her "inclusion rider" message at the end affected some people with high power.

My predictions usually turn out to be right but this year one thing really disappointed me. I knew that Guillermo Del Toro would win some of his nominations but he did not deserve to win "Best Picture" award. It counts as a transgression for me since the film is about a woman falling in love with a weird creature. I understand that he loves making fantastic films and he is quite good at it. However, this is too much and just because a mute woman and an other worldly creature are outcasts, it does not mean that they have to end up together. It feels forced and the ending at the water did not move me, instead it bothered the hell out of me! Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is the winner for me.

Sonunda oldu. Türkiye'ye pek çok kez geldiler ancak onları Babylon Soundgarden'da seyredebilmiştim ve takdir edersiniz ki festivaller tek konserlerden daha farklı oluyor.
So it finally happened. They came to Turkey many times but I only managed to see them at Babylon Soundgarden and of course festivals are different than the solo concerts.
O sabah çok heyecanlıydım ve arenaya ne zaman gitmem gerektiğine karar verememiştim çünkü konser öncesi uzun kuyruklar oluşuyor. Akşam üstü 5 gibi gitmenin uygun olacağını düşündüm ve Volkswagen Arena'nın güzel daveti ile biletimi de almam gerekiyordu sıraya girmeden önce. Sıra akşam saat 6 gibi başladı ve herkes çok heyecanlıydı. Bir sürü insan sırada bekliyordu ve kapılar saat 8'de açılacaktı.
I was quite excited that morning and I couldn't decide when to get to the arena because usually long queues occur before the show begins. I thought it would be okay to go there at about 5 p.m. and I also had to get my free ticket by courtesy of Volkswagen Arena before I got in the queue. The queue began around 6 p.m. and people were definitely excited. There were many people waiting and the doors were opened at 8 p.m.
Yine ön sıradaydım tabii ki. Benden başka bir şey bekler miydiniz? :) Akşam 10'a kadar onları bekledik ve Max Colombie sahneye çıktığında rüyadayım gibi hissettim.
I was again at the front row. I mean, what else would you expect from me? :) Until 10 p.m. we waited for them and when Max Colombie hit the stage, it felt like a dream.
Karış karış görebiliyordum onu ver her karışı mükemmeldi. Çok eğlendirdi, sesi rahatlatıyordu ve dansları harikaydı.
I could see him inch by inch and every inch of him was perfect. He was so entertaining, his voice was so soothing and his moves were on fire!
Arkada gösterdikleri görseller de inanılmazdı. Konserdeki deneyimimizi kesinlikle artırdılar.
The visuals they put in the back were incredible. They literally enhanced our experience at the show.

The show was sold out and Volkswagen Arena seemed like a perfect pick. Even the people at the seats got up and danced the whole night. That's what you do to us dear Max!
