Herkesin, sinema dünyasına ilgisi olsun olmasın, beklediği bir şeydir Oscar ödül töreni. Akademinin pek çok dalda ödül dağıttığı bu gece tabii ki adaylar için de heyecan verici bir bekleyiş demek. O zaman kırmızı halıdan başlayıp ödül törenine doğru sizleri keyifli bir yolculuğa çıkartacağım. Keyifli çünkü YILLARDIR herkesin beklediği o an gerçekleşti ve Leonardo DiCaprio sonunda "En İyi Aktör" ödülünü kucakladı. Sadece bu an için bile izlemeye değer bir geceydi.
Oscar Awards Ceremony is awaited by everyone whether they are interested in the world of cinema or not. Of course the night in which the academy gives the awards is a nervous wait. Then I will take you to a pleasant journey starting with the red carpet to the award ceremony. It is pleasant because that moment everyone had been waiting for YEARS happened last night and finally Leonardo DiCaprio won the Oscar for "Actor in a Leading Role". It was worth watching even only for that moment.
Kırmızı halı yine şıklık yarışındaydı ancak bu yıl kimse çok değişik bir şey denememiş. Marjinalliği ile bilinen Lady Gaga bile oldukça sade ve şık bir elbiseden yana tercih kullanmıştı. Genel olarak herkesin güzel/yakışıklı göründüğü tabii ki bariz.
It was like a competition on the red carpet but it seemed like no one tried something different. Even Lady Gaga who is known for her marginality, chose something simple and chic. Of course it is obvious that everyone looked beautiful/handsome.
Önce çok güzel bulduğum kadınlardan biri olan Cate Blanchett ile başlamak istiyorum. Swarovski kristalleriyle süslü Armani Privé elbisesi çiçek motifleriyle biraz kalabalık görünse de renginin matlığından olsa gerek çok göze batmıyor ya da bu Cate'in doğuştan geldiğine inandığım asil görüntüsüyle de alakalı olabilir. Elbisesini Tiffany & Co mücevherleriyle tamamlamış ve dediğim gibi duruşu çok asil bu kadının.
First of all, I would like to start with Cate Blanchett who is one of the women I find very beautiful. Even though the Armani Privé gown jewelled with Swarovski crystals seems a bit dishevelled, the gown does not strain the eyes due to its dullness I guess or it has something to do with the gentle look of Cate's which I think is an innate quality. She matched her gown with the Tiffany & Co jewelleries and as I said she looks very gentle.
İkinci olarak Brie Larson'a değinmek istiyorum. "Room" filmi ile çıkış yapan ve oyunculuğunu çok sevdiğim Brie bu mavi Gucci elbisesiyle harika durmuş. Rengin canlı olması kırmızı halıda onu öne çıkartıyor tabii ki. Kemeri biraz abartılı bulsam da -çünkü zaten model olarak uçuş uçuş karışık bir elbise- yine de kötü durmuyor. Sade makyajı ve geriye aldığı saçlarıyla da zaten dengelemeye çalışmış görüntüsünü.
Secondly, I would like to mention Brie Larson. Brie, who had a hit with the movie "Room" and whose acting I really like, looks very beautiful with the blue Gucci gown. Evidently it makes her stand out on the red carpet due to the vivid colour of the gown. Although I find the belt a bit overdone -because the model of the dress is loose-, it does not look bad. She seems to try to balance her look with her plain make up and backswept hair.
Oscar'dan bahsedip Julianne Moore'u es geçmek olmaz. Neredeyse her filmde görmeye alıştığım için artık onu ailemden biri gibi sahiplendim. Bu arada kendisinin 55 yaşına rağmen hala nasıl genç göründüğünü çözemiyorum. Siyah Chanel elbisesi ve üzerindeki pırıltılar çok yakışmış. Açık ten rengi olduğu için siyahın güzel durduğunu düşünüyorum.
I cannot go further without mentioning Julianne Moore when talking about Oscars. I embrace her as if she is one of my family members since I got used to seeing her almost in every movie. By the way I still cannot figure out how she looks this young although she is 55 years old. Her Chanel gown and the sparkles on it really suit her. Since she has a light compexion, I believe that black looks beautiful on her.
Ve tabii ki "En İyi Film" ödülünü kazanan "Spotlight" oyuncusu Rachel McAdams'ı es geçmek olmaz. Kendine has güzelliği ve oyunculuk yeteneği ile bu kadın hep favorilerim arasında yer alacak sanırım. Yeşil August Getty elbisesi sarışın olduğu için ve açık tenli olduğu için ona çok yakışmış. Sade makyajdan ve az aksesuardan yana bir tercihte bulunması "less is more" politikasının gerçekten işe yaradığını gösteriyor çünkü çok güzel duruyor.
And of course I cannot skip Rachel McAdams who is one of the actresses in "Spotlight", the movie that won the Oscar for "The Best Picture". I suppose she will remain as one of my favourites with her specific beauty and acting skills. The green August Getty gown looks good on her since she is blonde and has a light complexion. Applying a plain make up and using few jewelleries illustrate that the "less is more" policy really works well because she looks beautiful.
Charlize Theron'u es geçeceğimi sandıysanız çok yanıldınız. Dünyada belki de neredeyse herkes tarafından güzelliğin sözlükteki karşılığı olarak kabul edilen Charlize Theron kırmızı halıda kırmızı seçerek biraz göz yorsa da Dior elbisesini sadece Harry Winston elmasıyla bütünlemesi hoş durmuş.
If you thought I would skip Charlize Theron, you got it wrong. Charlize Theron, who is accepted as the definition of beauty in a dictionary by almost everyone, strains the eyes a little bit by her choice of red on the red carpet but it looks nice that she matched her Dior gown with Harry Winston diamonds.
Beni tanıyanların bildiği bir gerçek var. Sofia Vergara is my spirit animal. Türkçe karşılığı tam olarak olmasa da kısaca olmak istediğim kadın diyebilirim. Hareketleri, yaşam tarzı ve giyimi, kısaca her şeyi ile kendisi kabulüm. Marchesa elbisesi de ona çok yakışmış ve topuzu klasik bir görüntü oluştursa da elbise hareketli olduğu için saçta sade ve klasik bir seçimde bulunması tabii ki yerinde bir seçim.
There is a fact known by the people that know me. Sofia Vergara is my spirit animal. I accept her with the way she moves, her life style and the way she dresses. In short, with her everything. Her Marchesa gown really suits her and although her bun creates a classical look, of course it is a right choice that she went for a simple and classical choice with her bun since the dress is flamboyant.

So, shall I move on to the award ceremony cutting short this part about the red carpet? I guess the ceremony is more exciting.
Chris Rock'ın sunduğu bu ödül törenini ben maalesef çok sevemedim. "Black community" ile ilgili esprileri ya da açıklamaları ile sorunum yok ama çok yavan kaldığını düşünüyorum. Hugh Jackman ya da Neil Patrick Harris gibi sunucuların şakaları ya da müzikal içeren sunumları daha ilgimi çektiği için Chris'in yaptığı birkaç skeç beni tatmin etmedi.
Unfortunately I did not quite like the ceremony hosted by Chris Rock. His jokes or explanations about the "Black community" does not bother me but I think he was dull. Since I am more interested in musical performances or such jokes made by the hosts like Hugh Jackman or Neil Patrick Harris, several skits made by Chris did not satisfy my appetite.

Making a reference to the pizza sale Ellen made in the previous years, by selling cookies Chris Rock became the reason of these hilarious moments among the celebrities :)
Bir diğer bahsedeceğim nokta ise animasyon karakterlerinin ve Star Wars robotlarının sunucu olarak sahneye gelmesiydi. Toy Story'den Andy ve Buzz Lightyear sahneye gelerek hepimizi eğlendirdi. Minionlar da oldukça güldürdü. Ancak Star Wars hayranları başta olmak üzere herkesi mutlu eden görüntü R2-D2, C-3PO ve BB8'in bir arada sahneye gelmesiydi.
The other point I will mention is where animation characters and Star Wars robots hit the stage as hosts. Andy and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story entertained all of us. Minions made us laugh as well. But the scene which made everyone happy, particulary the Star Wars fans, was R2-D2, C-3PO and BB8 hitting the stage together.
Ayrıca bu geceden bahsederken Lady Gaga'dan bahsetmezsek olmaz. "The Hunting Ground" filmi için yaptığı "Til It Happens To You" şarkısını canlı söyledi. Lady Gaga'nın canlı ve özellikle akustik performansını ben çok beğeniyorum. Ses aralığı gerçekten geniş ve sadece bir pop şarkıcısı olmadığını da böylelikle kanıtlıyor.
Besides I cannot disregard Lady Gaga while talking about this night. She sang live the song "Til It Happens To You" which she made for "The Hunting Ground" movie. I really like Lady Gaga's live and especially acoustic performances. She has a really wide voice range and she proves that she is not only a pop singer.

Bizim saatimizle gece 2'de kırmızı halı töreni başladı. 3:30'da ödül töreni başladı ve sabaha 7'de son buldu. 6:30 gibi ise son üçe kalan gecenin önemli ödülleri olan "En İyi Film", "En İyi Aktör" ve "En İyi Aktris" ödülleri verilmeye başlandı. Fakat yazımda ben sizi o kadar bekletmeyeceğim ve önce onlarla başlayacağım.
So let's move on to the awards. The most important awards of the night were "The Best Picture,"Actor in a Leading Role" and "Actress in a Leading Role", so these three were announced at the end of the night. But I will not hold you that long and start my post with them first.

Bu filmi ilk izlediğimde açıkçası çok etkilendim. Konusu sebebiyle tartışmalara yol açabilecek bir film olduğu için ben The Revenant alır diye bekliyordum. En iyi film ödülü alacak kadar iddialı diyemem belki ama güzel bir film izlemediyseniz. Yine de dediğim gibi bir şeyin en iyisini seçmek zor tabii.
I was really impressed by the movie when I first saw it. Since it is a controversial movie that could ignite a few disputes I was thinking that The Revenant would win. I cannot possibly say that it was assertive enough to win the Oscar for the best picture but it is a nice movie if you still have not seen it. But as I said it, it is hard to choose the best of something.

Her yıl acaba şimdi alır mı diye bekleyip heyecanla ödül törenini sadece Leonardo için izlediğimizi önce bir kabullenelim. Bu yıl gerçekten iddialı bir filmle yine oyunculuk yeteneğini kanıtlamış olan Leonardo gerçekten ödülü hak etti. Şakalar bir kenara, gerçekten ödülü hak eden kişilerin alabilmiş olması çok önemli ve Leonardo bu anı görmeyi en az senin kadar bekledik inan :)
Let's first accept the fact that we all watched the academy awards with a nervous waiting whether Leonardo would win or not. Leonardo really deserved the Oscar for his role in such a great movie and he proved his acting skills there as well. Jokes aside, it is important that only people who deserve the awards get them and Leonardo believe us when we say that we had been waiting for this moment as long as you had :)

Yukarıda da belirttiğim gibi Brie'nin oyunculuğu beni çok etkiledi. Fakat artık büyük bir sorumluluk altına girdiğini düşünüyorum. Bundan sonra seçeceği filmler çok önemli olacak onun için. Oscar'lı kadın oyuncu olmasının hakkını vermesi gerekecek ve oynadığı her film onun ismiyle ön plana çıkacak.
As I mentioned above, Brie's acting really affected me. But I think that she has a tremendous responsibility from now on. The movies she will choose in the future will be really important for her. She will need to prove that she really deserves being an Oscar awarded actress and the movies she will star in will stand out with her name.

Two years in a row Innaritu won the Oscar and he is one of my favourite directors as well. I believe that he gives importance to his work and does it with love.
