91. Akademi Ödülleri (The 91st Academy Awards)

"And the Oscar goes to..."

Her yıl iple çektiğim Oscar gecesi nihayet geldi geçti. Üstelik bu yıl beni şaşırtmadı ve sonuçlardan ilk defa memnun kaldım :)

The Oscars night that I always countdown has come and passed. Besides, it did not surprise me this time and I'm quite happy with the results :)

Söz konusu Akademi Ödülleri olunca kırmızı halıda boy gösteren ünlülerden bahsetmezsek olmaz :) Çok sevdiğim bazı elbiseleri paylaşmak isterim. Geçen yılki kadar mükemmel elbiseler görmedim bu arada. Ama en sevdiğim sanırım Jennifer Lopez ve Regina King oldu.

When it comes to the Academy Awards, you can't ignore the celebrities walking down the red carpet with their gowns :) I'll now share some of my favourites. I didn't see as many great dresses as I did last year by the way. However, I liked what Jennifer Lopez and Regina King wore the most.

Bu yıl ödül töreninde sunucu yoktu. Dolayısıyla akış daha hızlı oldu ancak Ellen ya da Jimmy Kimmel gibi sunucular olsaydı gece nasıl farklı olurdu düşünmeden de edemedim. Adam Lambert'ın performansı çok başarılıydı. Lady Gaga ve Bradley Cooper da çok iyiydi ancak onları her yerde görmekten ve dinlemekten sıkıldım. A Star Is Born filmi de bana geçmedi mesela. Ben giderek duygusuzlaşıyorum sanırım :)

There was no presenter this time. Therefore, the program seemed to roll easily. However, I couldn't help but wonder how it would've been different if Ellen or Jimmy Killen were to host. Adam Lambert's opening act was quite successful. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper were also fine but I got tired of seeing and listening to them everywhere. I wasn't moved by A Star Is Born either. I think I'm becoming numb day by day :) 

Bohemian Rhapsody herkes gibi favorimdi açıkçası. En İyi Film ödülünü alamazsa en kötü Rami Malek'in alacağını biliyordum. O yüzden ikinci planda kendime birinci olarak Green Book filmini seçmiştim. Tam bir yolda olma filmi. Oyuncular da aşırı yetenekli. Nitekim tahminlerim tuttu :) Roma'nın kazanmasını asla istemedim çünkü yabancı dilde adaylığı zaten vardı. En İyi Film gibi iddialı bir ödülü gerçekten iddialı olan bir yapımın kazanması taraftarıyım her zaman. A Star Is Born ya da BlacKkKlansman filmlerinin neden aday olduğunu bile hala düşünüyorum.

My favourite was Bohemian Rhapsody like everyone else. Even if it failed to get an Oscar for the Best Picture, I knew Rami Malek qould at least get something. Thus, as a back-up plan, I picked a second film that might also win and it was Green Book. It is literally an "on the road" film. The actors are also amazing. All in all, what I guessed came to life :) I never wanted Roma to win because it was already nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film category. I think that such a challenging category should be won by a challenging film. I still think how on earth they nominated A Star Is Born or BlacKkKlansman as the Best Picture.

Tom Odell Konseri (18.02.2019) @ Zorlu PSM

Herkese selam :)

Hi everyone :)

İngiliz olduğu için bende yeri ayrı olan Tom Odell'ı dinlemeye gittim ilk defa. Tatlı biri olduğunu, yetenekli olduğunu biliyordum ama kesinlikle canlı performansı beklentilerimi aştı!

I love Tom Odell, since he's British, he always had a special place :) I knew how cute and talented he was, but his live performance exceeded my expectations!

Biz biraz salınarak gitmiştik konser alanına. Arkadaşım da ben de işten çıkmış ve yorgun argın bir şeyler yiyerek karnımızı doyurmaya çalışmıştık. Kapı açılış saatinden birazcık geç indik aşağıya ve hayatımızın hatasını yaptığımızı fark ettik çünkü bırakın içeride sahneye yakın alan bulmayı, içeri bile giremiyorduk izdihamdan!

We went to the venue lingeringly because both my friend and I were tired and hungry. We went down a bit later than the opening hour but we realised it was the worst mistake we could have ever done because let alone finding space inside, we weren't even able to get in due to the crowd!

Daha önce de geldiği için biletlerin tükenmesine rağmen ben bu kadar kalabalık olmasını beklememiştim. Zorlu'daki bu sezon en kalabalık etkinlik bu olabilir. Arkadan seyretmek zorunda kalacağım için de biraz üzgündüm ama sanırım Tom bunu hissetmiş olacak ki aramıza indi! Bir anda uzakta seçmekte zorlandığım Tom ile aramda sadece 30 cm vardı artık. İnanılmaz güzeldi o aramızdayken hep bir ağızdan şarkılarını söylemek :)

I did not expect such a crowded audience even though his gig was sold out because he came here before. This could be the most crowded event Zorlu hosted this year. I was sad to see him afar but I guess Tom heard my inner voice and he came down the stage! He literally walked towards me and he was only 30 cm away from me! It was an amazing experience to sing his songs out loud with that crowd and with him near us :)

Tabii ki en sevilen şarkısı "Another Love" en sona saklanmıştı. Piyanonun tuşlarına bastığı anda anlamıştık şarkının geldiğini. Yine hep bir ağızdan duygulu duygulu söyledik. Gerçekten canlı dinlemek çok başkaymış. Müzik yeteneği ileri seviyede birisi.

Of course he did not sing "Another Love" until the very end since it is his most popular song. We knew the song was coming the moment he hit the keys. We sang again with all our heart. Listening to him live was beyond great. He is quite talented in music.

Siz de umarım bir gün canlı dinlersiniz. Aşağıya videoya aldığım şarkısını bırakayım da hep beraber biraz hüzünlenelim :)

I hope you get to listen to him live one day. I'll leave the song I recorded below, so we'll all get sad a bit :)

Jay - Jay Johanson Konseri (15.02.2019) @ Zorlu Studio

Merhaba!

Hello!

Studio açıldığından beri çok güzel konserlere ev sahipliği yapıyor, Jay - Jay Johanson da bunlardan biri! İsveçli şarkıcı uzun süredir ülkemize geliyor ve onu seven kitle de oldukça fazla. Ben de hep bir sonrakine giderim diye diye hiç gidememiştim, ilk defa bu konserde onu dinleme fırsatı yakaladım.

Studio has been providing space for amazing concerts and Jay - Jay Johanson is one of those names! This Swedish singer has performed here many times and the audience also loves him very much. I always postponed attending to his gigs, believing there would be another. This was the first time that I managed to go actually.

Synthpop tarzındaki şarkıları ile kendine has bir konser veren Johanson, aynı zamanda 1 gün öncesinde, yani 14 Şubat'ta da konser vererek sevgililere güzel anlar yaşatmıştı. Ben hem vaktim ona uyduğu için, hem de biletler sadece o güne kaldığı için 15'inde gidebilmiştim.

Johanson, who has a unique style with his synthpop songs, also gave a concert the day before, exactly on Valentine's Day, the 14th of February. I was only available on Friday and there were no tickets left for Thursday so I could only attend the one on Friday, the 15th of February.

İki gün arka arkaya olmasına rağmen o gün de enerjisi oldukça yerindeydi. Belki tek eleştirebileceğim nokta hareketli şarkıları olmasına rağmen genelde düşük tempolu şarkılar seçmesiydi. Onun haricinde her şarkısını severek dinledim tabii :) En sevdiğim şarkıları: On The Radio, She Doesn't Live Here Anymore ve So Tell The Girls That I Am Back In Town.

He was quite energetic even though he had 2 consecutive performances. Maybe the only thing I can complain about is that he sang slow songs more than upbeat ones. Other than this, of course I loved each of his songs :) My favourite ones: On The Radio, She Doesn't Live Here Anymore and So Tell The Girls That I Am Back In Town.

2019 Grammy Music Awards

Bir müzik aşığı olarak Grammy Müzik Ödülleri hakkında uzun zamandır (yaklaşık olarak 4 yıldır) yazmadığımı fark ettim. Aslında bunun sebebi tabii ki müzikten soğumam değil. Aksine müziğin bu kadar sektörleşmesi ve kendini tekrar eder bir hal alması beni müzik ödüllerinden uzaklaştırmıştı. Ancak hala biraz umut olduğunu gördüm izlediğimde. Sevdiğim birkaç şeyi hiç değilse paylaşayım istedim.

I realised that as a music lover I haven't written a post about Grammy Music Awards (approximately 4 years). The reason is of course not about me becoming alienated from music. On the contrary, it is because the music has become so much involved with the industry and it has become repetitive. This time when I watched I felt that there still was a little bit of hope. I wanted to share some of the things I liked from that night.

Los Angeles Staples Center’da yapılan 61. Grammy Müzik Ödülleri yine ünlülerin akımına uğramış. Ariana Grande performans yapacak olmasına ve ödül almış olmasına rağmen törene gitmeyerek kendinden söz ettirdi. Zira şarkısına sansür koymak istediler ve o da kendi şarkısına böyle müdahale yapılmasını uygun bulmadı. Ariana Grande’ye çok hayran olmama rağmen bu davranışını açıkçası desteklediğini söyleyebilirim. Bu tarz büyük ödül törenlerinde artık sık sık sadece Camila Cabello gibi isimleri görmekten sıkıldım. İnsan ister istemez arka planda neler döndüğünü sorguluyor. Beyoncé, Rihanna gibi alanında inanılmaz ünlü isimler artık bu törene katılmazken, sadece yeni çıkış yapan sanatçıların sahne aldığını görüyoruz. Kendilerini duyurmaları için önemli bir adım ancak bu benim gözümde ödül törenlerinin kalitesini biraz da olsa düşürdüğü imajını uyandırıyor. Son zamanlarda performans anlamında Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes, Miley Cyrus ve Dua Lipa dışında isim göremez olduk.

The 61st Grammy Music Awards Night that took place in Los Angeles Staples Center, was full of celebrities. Ariana Grande was quite popular since she did not attend the night even though she had a performance and an award to receive. Because they wanted to censor her song and she did not think it was the right thing to do. Even though I'm not really a fan of hers, I support her decision. I'm tired of seeing names such as Camile Cabello at these award nights. You can't help but wonder if there is something else going on behind. Names like Beyoncé, Rihanna do not come to the show. We only see the new performers hitting the stage. It is a great opportunity for them to be heard but I think it is reducing the quality a bit. We failed to see any names lately except for Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes, Miley Cyrus and Dua Lipa.

Açılışta Alicia Keys çok güzel bir konuşma yaptı. Müzik endüstrisine dair düşüncelerini ve müziğin hayatlarını nasıl değiştirdiğini anlatmaları için dört arkadaşı Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez ve Jada Pinkett Smith'i sahneye davet etti. 

Alicia Keys did a great opening speech. She invited four of her friends, Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez and Jada Pinkett Smith to the stage to talk about their thoughts on the music industry and how the music has changed their lives.

Performanslar içinde en ses getiren Jennifer Lopez’in Motown Tribute gösterisi oldu. Oldukça ses getiren Motown Müzikali, Berry Gordy’nin hayatını ve Motown Records’u kurma macerasını anlatıyor. Siyahileri konu edinen bu müzikali Jennifer Lopez’in sahnelendirmiş olması bazı kesimleri rahatsız etse de, performans anlamında zaten bir elin parmağını geçmeyecek kadar insan bu sektörde yer alıyor ve benim gözümde Jennifer Lopez de bunlardan biri. Dolayısıyla ben performansından çok da rahatsız olmadım.

One of the performances that was on the spotlight was Jennifer Lopez's Motown Tribute performance. Motown Musical tells the life of Berry Gordy and how he founded Motown Records. This musical involves black people and some of the people became irritated because Jennifer Lopez performed this as a white woman. There are not many people who can pull of such performances and Jennifer Lopez is one of those talented artists. I was not that bothered by this.

Camila Cabello beni artık biraz sıkmaya başladı. Belki sesi güzel, belki yetenekli ancak bu kadar çok ödül alabilecek biri olduğunu düşünmüyorum. Ses eleştirisinde bulunacak kadar bir yetkinlikte değilim belki ancak çok da mükemmel bir sesi olduğunu düşünmüyorum. Sahneyi doldurabilmiş, renkli bir gösteri yapmış ve Ricky Martin ile J Balvin’i sahnesine dahil etmiş. Bu açıdan takdir ettim ve izlerken de eğlendim, yalan yok :)

I'm kind of tired of seeing Camila Cabello everywhere. Maybe she has a talent but I don't think that she deserves all those awards. I am not that competent to criticise her but I don't think her voice is that perfect. She was able to put on a colourful show by inviting Ricky Martin and J Balvin. I liked this detail and enjoyed it, I won't lie :)

Cardi B'den de yine beklediğim bir performans gördüm. Sahneyi doldurabiliyor, rap yaparken yorulmuyor. Çok takdir ettiğim bir tarzı olmasa da yine de keyif aldırıyor, o açıdan kesinlikle tebrik etmek lazım. 

I saw what I literally expected of Cardi B on that stage. She is able to rap without gasping for breath. Even though I don't really appreciate her style, she makes you enjoy the moment. Give the devil her due :)

Müziği her daim sevdiğim ve hayatımın vazgeçilmez bir parçası olduğu için bu özel geceyi izlerken tabii ki eğlendim ancak her sene içeriğinin giderek zayıfladığını ve herkesin de bunun farkında olduğunu düşünüyorum. Bakalım önümüzdeki sene farklı bir şey görebilecek miyiz :)

I liked the show because I always adored music and it is an indispensable part of my life, but each year the content seems unattractive and everyone is aware of that. Let's see whether we'll be able to see something different the next year :)

Madem Sevgililer Günü geldi, hemen en sevdiğim romantik filmleri sizler için sıralayayım. Bu vesileyle ben de belki onları tekrar izlemek için kendime bahane yaratmış olurum :) Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind filmini önermekten de önerilmesinden de yoruldum, o yüzden daha farklı bir liste oluşturmaya çalışacağım :)

Since the Valentine's Day has arrived, I'll list you my favourite romance films. Maybe I'll also urge myself to see them again :) I got tired of recommending and being recommended to see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, so I'll try to list different films :)

1- Love Actually (2003)

Bu filmi yılbaşı zamanı da izlemeyi çok seviyorum. İngiltere'de geçiyor ve birbirinden farklı 8 çiftin hayatına konuk oluyoruz. Hem eğlenceli hem romantik bir film. İzlerken duygusal anlar da yaşıyorsunuz, kahkaha krizine de giriyorsunuz. Tanıdık kadro da cabası! Alan Rickman, Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson ve daha birçok oyuncu!

I also love seeing this film during Christmas time. It is set in UK and we see the lives of 8 different couples. The film is both funny and romantic. You sometimes feel moved, sometimes burst into laughter. The cast is the bonus part of the film! Alan Rickman, Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson and so on!

2- Ghost (1990)

Yakın zamanda Zorlu PSM'de müzikalini izleme fırsatı da yakaladığım eski ancak eskimeyen bu filmi de listeye kesinlikle almalıydım. Dönemine göre gerek çekimleri gerekse konusu itibariyle ilgi çekici olduğunu düşünüyorum. Patrick Swayze'yi bu filmle tanıyıp çok sevmiştim, öldüğü zaman da aşırı üzülmüştüm. Demi Moore, Whoopi Goldberg gibi tanınmış birçok oyuncu da filme eşlik ediyor.

I had to put this film into this list. As you may know, I had the chance to attend its musical at Zorlu PSM and this film might be old but it will never go out of date. I believe that for its time, it is kind of groundbreaking. I got to know Patrick Swayze after seeing this film and I felt quite saddened when he passed away. A lot of acknowledged people such as Demi Moore, Whoopi Goldberg are also present in this film.

3- While You Were Sleeping (1995)

Sanırım buraya kadar fark etmişsinizdir, 90 ve 00 yapımlarını seviyorum. O senelerde çekilen filmlerin farklı bir dokusu var sanki. Bu filmde Sandra Bullock çok iyi bir oyunculuk çıkartıyor. Komedi filmi gibi başlıyor ancak giderek romantik bir hal alıyor. Yine zaman zaman gülüyor zaman zaman üzülüyorsunuz. Şahsen keyif aldığım filmlerden bir tanesidir.

I believe you have come to realise that I love films made in 90s and 00s. It is as if films that were produced during those years have a different texture. In this film, Sandra Bullock is the protagonist and she is really good. When the film begins, you get the vibe that it will be fun but it becomes more dramatic as the plot reveals itself. You sometimes find yourself laughing, and sometimes pondering upon the meaning of love. I personally enjoy this one a lot. 

4- You’ve Got Mail (1998)

Bence komedi filmleri bu filmden sonra hiçbir zaman güzel olmadı. İzlerken yine aşırı keyif aldığım filmlerden bir tanesi. Tom Hanks ve Meg Ryan'ın kimyası çok güzel tutmuş. İnternetten tanışan bu çiftin tatlı hikayesini mutlaka izlemelisiniz.

I think none of the films released after this one, had the capacity to reach to this level of fun. It is one of those films that I do enjoy. The chemistry between Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan is undeniable. You should see this sweet story of this couple who meet online if you still haven't.

5- Dragonfly (2002)

Kevin Costner benim gözümde hep aşk adamı olmuştur. The Bodyguard ile bu film arasında çok kaldım ancak bu filmin daha az bilindiğini düşünerek bunu önermek istedim. Türü listedeki filmlere göre biraz farklı. NDE dediğimiz ölüme yaklaşan kişilerin deneyimlerinden, ölen eşine ulaşmaya çalışan aşık bir adamı izliyoruz. O günden beri boynumdan çıkarmadığım bir yusufçuk kolyem var :)

Kevin Costner has always been a man of love for me. I hesitated whether writing The Bodyguard or this one but then I thought that the latter one was less recognized so I went with this one. Its genre is a bit different compared to others. We see a man trying to communicate with his dead lover through people who had NDE (near death experience). I bought a dragonfly necklace the day I saw this film :)
