Shakira Konseri (11.07.2018) @ Vodafone Park

"Aman tanrım!" diyerek söze başlamak istiyorum çünkü nereden başlayacağımı bilmiyorum.

I'd like to begin by saying "OMG!" because I don't know how to start.

Oral Fixation turnesi kapsamında 2007'de Kuruçeşme Arena'ya konsere gelmişti Shakira ve gidememiştim. O zamandan beri istiyordum izlemeyi. Özellikle dansa olan ilgimi vakti zamanında "¿Dónde Están los Ladrones?" albümü ile artıran kadının muhteşem dansını yakından seyretmek güzel bir deneyim olurdu. Derken BKM Online konser duyurusu yayınladı ve tabii ki çok şaşırdım çünkü artık ülkemize malum bir sürü sebepten dolayı bu kadar meşhur sanatçıların geleceğini düşünmüyordum.

Shakira came to Turkey as part of her Oral Fixation Tour and performed in Kuruçeşme Arena in 2017 which I missed sadly. I wanted to see her ever since. It would be a perfect experience for me to see her dance live in front of me since she always increased my interest in dancing thanks to her album "¿Dónde Están los Ladrones?" which I listened to many times on repeat. Then BKM Online announced that she would be here and I was taken aback since I did not think any artist would come to Turkey due to well-known reasons. 

El Dorado turnesi için Vodafone Park'a doluştuk hepimiz. İşten çıkar çıkmaz koşarak gittim. Stadyuma hiç gitmemiştim, zaten oradaki ilk konser de Shakira oldu o yüzden bazı deneyimlerimi paylaşmak istiyorum. Yaya olarak rahat edelim diye trafiği kapasalar da bu sefer devasa bir insan kalabalığı oluştu. Girişleri çok iyi yönlendirememişler ve kategorimi bulana kadar en az 20 dakika harcamış olabilirim. Yeri bulduktan sonra girerken de üç kez kontrolden geçirdiler. Zaten yığılma olan bir konserde bu kadar çok arama yaparak insanların alımını neden geciktirdiklerini anlamadım. İçeri girdiğimde etkilendim açıkçası çünkü düşündüğümden daha büyüktü stadyum. Belki ilerleyen zamanlarda Beyoncé, Rihanna gibi sanatçıları da görürüz :)

We all went to Vodafone Park for her El Dorado Tour. I literally ran after work. I'd never been to that stadium before, and this concert is also the first one for them, so I'd like to state a few things. They pedestrianised the roads so that we would be at ease but then a huge crowd of people began forming. They also could not properly direct people according to their tickets and I might have easily spent 20 minutes just looking for the right place to enter. They also searched us three times and I did not understand why they went through such protocols where there is a huge crowd of people impatiently waiting to get in. When I passed through security, I saw that the stadium was bigger than I thought. Maybe we'll be able to see Beyoncé, Rihanna, etc. one day :)                           

Erken giriş bileti alıp önlere koşmuş ve adeta kamp alanı yaratmış bir kitle vardı. Onların heyecanı da sizi körüklüyordu. Sonra giderek alan dolmaya başladı. Bir sürü ünlü isim de geldi konsere. Neticede 11 yıl aradan sonra Shakira ülkemize geliyordu, gitmemek olmazdı. Saat 21:00 gibi konser başlayacak dense de tabii ki sarktı ve 21:40 gibi sahneye geldi Shakira. Kelimenin tam anlamıyla koşa koşa geldi ve birden başladı performansına. O da heyecanlı görünüyordu.

People with the early entry tickets were sitting down by the barriers as if they were camping. Their excitement also increased the hype of the others. Then people began to come inside more. A lot of celebrities were also present. After all Shakira added Turkey to her tour list after eleven years. The concert was supposed to begin at 9 p.m. but of course they failed to do so and she hit the stage at about 9.40 p.m. She literally ran to the stage and immediately began performing. She also seemed excited.

Stadyumla ilgili tek sıkıntım zemini ve ses sistemiydi. En ufak bir bass olduğunda ses aşırı patlıyordu. Çektiğimiz videolarda sesin kötü olması bir kenara, canlı canlı biz bile Shakira'yı duymakta güçlük çektik. Sahneye yakın olmamızın da bunda payı var tabii ki ama yine de bu kadar olmamalıydı. Üstelik her bass girdiğinde zemin de aşırı titriyordu. Video çekerken sabit durmama rağmen görüntüler sanki zıplayarak çekilmiş gibi. Zemini güçlendirmeleri ve ses sistemini düzenlemeleri gerekiyor.

The problems about the stadium were the floors and the sound system. A little bit of bass was enough to suppress the voice of Shakira and the floors were shaking with each beat. Even though I was standing still, the videos are not stable. They need to reinforce those systems.

Özellikle Suerte (Whenever, Wherever) ve Underneath Your Clothes söylediğinde duygulandım. Çocukluğum resmen bu şarkıları dinleyerek geçti. O zaman asla hayal edemezdim Shakira'dan bunları canlı dinleyeceğimi.

I got emotional especially when she sang Suerte (Whenever, Wherever) and Underneath Your Clothes. I spent my whole childhood listening to these songs. I would have never thought that one day I would be able to listen to them live.

Dinleyiciyi sevmiş gibi görünüyordu, umarım bizden memnun kalmıştır çünkü biz fazlasıyla eğlendik :)

She seemed like she loved us as well, I hope she did because we had so much fun :)

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds Konseri (10.07.2018) @ Küçükçiftlik Park

İstanbul Caz Festivali'nin 25. yılı sebebiyle Nick Cave ülkemize teşrif etti, hem de 17 yıl sonra yeniden The Bad Seeds grubuyla buluştu. Aylar öncesinde bu konser duyurulduğunda çok heyecanlanmıştım çünkü şaka değil, 45 yıllık müzik geçmişiyle 2001 yılından sonra ikinci kez buraya geliyordu Nick ve ben onu o zaman izleme fırsatı elde edememiştim. Herkesin hayatında bir kere bu adamı dinlemesi gerektiğine inanıyorum. Ben de böylelikle ölmeden önce canlı dinlemem gereken isimler listesinden bir kişiyi daha çıkarmış oldum :)

Due to the 25th anniversary of Istanbul Jazz Festival, Nick Cave came to our country and reunited with his band The Bad Seeds after 17 years. I was extremely excited when this concert was announced because it's not a joke, after 2001, with his 45 years of music background, Nick Cave was coming here for a second time. I missed the chance of seeing him when he first performed but not this time! :) I believe everyone should listen to him live at least once in their lives. That being said, I checked this off my bucket list :)

Ben gerçekten ilk başta böyle bir atmosfer beklemedim. Sahne önünde inanılmaz fanatikler vardı. Gaziantep'ten kalkıp gelenler, İzmir'den günübirlik gelenler, İngiltere'den gelen... Birçok farklı insan profili aynı müzisyenin çatısı altında toplanmıştı ve bu çok güzel bir şey. İzmir'den gelen hanımefendi ile ufak bir muhabbetimiz de oldu. Adını almayı unuttum ancak buradan eğer okursa bilsin ki kendisi ile tanıştığım için çok memnun oldum. Nick Cave'e aşırı hayrandı ve öyle bildiğimiz genç nüfusun pop şarkıcılarına hayran olması gibi değil. Yaşam felsefesi olarak benimsemiş Nick'i ve sanki uzun yıllardır görmediği bir arkadaşını görecekmiş gibi bir heyecan içerisindeydi. O an yine gördüm müziğin iyileştirici ve birleştirici gücünü.

At first, I really did not expect such an atmosphere there. There were incredible fans in the front row. There were people from Gaziantep, İzmir, United Kingdom... A lot of different people were gathered under the same music and that is great. I had a small chat with the woman from İzmir. I forgot to ask her name but if she's reading this somehow, I want her to know that I was quite happy to meet her. She was a crazy fan of Nick's and it wasn't like the pop fandom of young people. She adopted Nick as a some kind of philosophy in her life and she was excited as if she was going to see a friend of hers whom she missed. There again I understood the healing and unifying power of the music.

Nick Cave sahneye çıktığında gerçekten ilahi bir güçle çıktığını falan düşündüm. Seyirciyle etkileşimi de bunu gösteriyordu. Sanki bu dünyadan değil gibiydi. Hani yabancı filmlerde görürüz ya insanların alnına dokunurlar dini törenlerde, insanlar ağlar ve o ruha girer. Aynısını gözlemledim konserde. Gerçekten performansı olağanüstüydü. İyi ki gittim dediğim konserlerden biri oldu, kaçırsam çok üzülürmüşüm.

I really thought Nick Cave came to the stage with some kind of a holy power. His interaction with the audience supported this idea. It was as if he was from a different world. We see these types of scenes in foreign films where the preacher touches the forehead of people and they begin crying due to that spiritual atmosphere. I observed the same thing literally. His performance was extraordinary. I'm so happy that I attended this concert. I'd be sad if I missed it.

Konserlerde en sevdiğim şey sanatçının birebir seyirciyle etkileşime geçmesi. Neticede para veren ve daha da önemlisi saatlerini ayırıp gelen onca insanın tek amacı o sanatçı ile bir bağ kurabilmek. Nick Cave sahneden ziyade hep üstümüzdeydi diyebilirim. Üstümüze atladı, aramıza girdi dolaştı, ellerimizi tuttu, bize şarkı söyletti hatta sahneye bile çıkardı çıkarabildiği kadar kişiyi.

The thing that I like the most about concerts is the moment where the artist interacts with the audience. After all, people pay to attend these concerts and most importantly they spare their time only to make some kind of a connection with the artist. Nick held our hands, made us sing his songs, and took as many people as he could to the stage.

İngilizcenin hayatımızın vazgeçilmez bir parçası olduğunu biliyoruz, konuşulan ortak dillerden bir tanesi olduğunu da. İlk başta zorunlu bir şey gibi gelebilir kulağa ancak insanlarla tanışınca, şirketlerle çalışmaya başlayınca ya da sadece kendi isteğinizle seyahat edince bile İngilizce konuşmanın ne kadar önemli olduğunu anlıyorsunuz. Günlük koşuşturma içerisinde belki dil öğrenmeyi en sona atıyoruz ama bu işi ne kadar erken halledersek o kadar fayda sağlarız aslında.

We already know that English language is an indispensable part of our lives and it is one of the most common languages. It may sound obligatory at first but when you meet people, begin working for companies or travel on your own accord, you realize how significant it is to speak English. In the daily hassle, we often tend to put it off, however, the sooner we are done with learning the language, the better outcomes we may get. 

Dil eğitimine yönelince de istemsizce ikiye ayrılıyoruz. Ülke sınırları içerisinde mi eğitim görmek lazım yoksa bir cesaretle yurt dışına gidip mi bu işi yapmalıyız? İlk seçenek hep daha kolay gibi görünse de yurt dışı eğitim kadar etkili değil aslında. Bir dili en güzel öğrenme yöntemi yerinde yaşayarak tecrübe etmek. Etraftan çok hikaye de duyarız bununla ilgili. Sadece seyahat etmeye öylesine giden biri bile gittiği ülkenin dilinden, kültüründen bir şey kapar gelir. Düşündüğümüzden çok daha yatkınız dil öğrenmeye. Sadece içimizdeki isteğe biraz kulak vermemiz gerekiyor.

When it comes to the language learning, we get torn between two options involuntarily. Should we learn the language within the borders of our country or should we do this with all our courage in a foreign country? The first option always seems like an easy way out, but actually it is not as effective as the latter. The best method to learn a language is to experience it within that country. Even a person who travels for purposes of leisure, learns something about the language, the culture. We have more tendency to learn a language than we think. We just need to pay attention to the sound within.

Böyle büyük bir işe tek başına kalkışmak zor elbette. Vizesiyle ayrı, konaklamasıyla ayrı, uçak biletiyle ayrı, her şeyle uğraşmak lazım kısacası. İşte tam da bu anda dil okulları yardımınıza koşuyor. Eğer sizin de kafanızı bu sorular kurcalıyorsa gözünüz kapalı EF Dil Okulları'nı tercih edebilirsiniz. Diğer okullardan farkı ne derseniz öncelikle aracı kurum olmadıklarını ve kendi okullarına yönlendirdiklerini belirtmeliyim. Yıllardır bu sektörde yer alıyorlar ve çok tecrübeliler. Ülke, şehir, konaklama ve dil açısından da size birçok seçenek sunabiliyorlar.

It is rather hard to do this all alone. You have to deal with the visa procedure, accommodation, flight tickets and so on. At this point, language schools help you out. If you are troubled by such questions, you can choose EF Language Schools without any hesitation. There are many reasons that might lead you to become an EF student. To begin with, they are not agents, they place you in one of their own schools. They have been actively serving in this industry for years, so they have a huge amount of experience in that area. They have a lot of options in terms of countries, cities, accommodation and languages. 

İngilizcem çok iyi, başka bir dil öğrenmek isterim derseniz de buna imkanınız var. İngilizce dil eğitim programları da çok seçenekli. 18-25 yaş arası gençlerin olduğu grupta yaşıtlarınızla da okuyabilirsiniz, iş hayatınızda kullanabileceğiniz profesyonel bir İngilizce eğitimi tercih edebilirsiniz ya da kısa zamanda çok yol kat edebileceğiniz farklı bir programa yazılabilirsiniz.

If you are certain about your English language level, you might go for another one. You might want to study with people who are between 18-25 years old, you might prefer to learn a professional English or you might go for a different short program in which you can level up quickly.

Wiz Khalifa Konseri (04.07.2018) @ Küçükçiftlik Park

Konser delisi olarak yine karşınızdayım!

Here I am, again, as a concert freak!

İki gün önce efsanevi bir konserdeydim. Hip-hop/rap sevgimi zaten beni tanıyanlar bilecektir. Wiz Khalifa da bu müzik türü içerisinde başarısını kanıtlamış isimlerden. Çoğu şarkısını da seviyorum zaten. O yüzden koşa koşa Küçükçiftlik Park'a gittim :)

Two days ago I was at a legendary concert. Anyone who knows me would also know about my love for hip-hop/rap music and culture. Wiz Khalifa is one of those names to become acknowledged in the industry. I love most of his songs. That's why I attended this concert at Küçükçiftlik Park without a second thought :) 

Konser önce Ezhel ve Ceza'ya da yetişebildim. Ezhel'in serbest bırakıldıktan sonraki ilk sahnesiydi. Seyirciler bu yüzden de daha heyecanlı görünüyordu. Şarkılarını daha da coşkulu söylüyordu Ezhel. Daha sonra Ceza sahne aldı. Türkiye'de rap müzikten bahsedince akla ilk gelen isimlerden olduğu konusunda hemfikiriz bence. Yıllardır bu sektörde yer alan Ceza, müthiş bir enerjiyle hem eski parçalarından söyledi hem de yenilerden. Bu şekilde saati 22:00'a getirdik ancak tabii ki Wiz Khalifa tam saatinde çıkmadı :)

I had the chance to listen to Ezhel and Ceza as well because I was afraid that I would miss their performance. This was the first live event Ezhel would attend after being released. The audience also seemed as excited as he was. Ezhel sang his songs over-enthusiastically. Then it was Ceza's turn. I believe we agree on the fact that he is one of the first names to pop up in our minds when it comes to Turkish rap music. Ceza, who has been an active participant in this industry, performed both his old and latest songs. Then it was 10 p.m. but of course Wiz Khalifa did not hit the stage on time :)

30-40 dakika bekledikten sonra sahneye geldi Wiz. Sahneye çıktığı an izdiham başladı zaten. Işık gösterileri, barkovizyonda dönen görseller ve ara ara püskürttüğü alevler ile performansını hep üst seviyede tuttu. Hem bizi coşturdu, hem de bizimle coştu. Seyircisiyle etkileşimde olan ve gerçekten yaptığı işten zevk alan insanların konserleri her zaman daha güzel geçiyor, Wiz Khalifa'nın da nitekim öyleydi.

After waiting for 30-40 minutes, Wiz came to the stage. Then there was a stampede as expected. He maintained his performance at the highest level with lights, visuals on the barcovision, and occasional flames that he fired out. He both rocked the house and he also enjoyed himself. The artists who interact with the audience and really enjoy their show, always put out their best performance. Wiz Khalifa was also like that.

Sahne önüne genelde sanatçıyı gerçekten seven ve şarkılarını bilen ekip gelir. Çok nadir parası olduğu için en önden izleyeyim mantığıyla gelen de olur. Bu kalabalık ise gerçekten sevdiği için gelmişti. Alakasız kimseyi görmedim alanda. Üstünde Wiz Khalifa dövmesi olanlar, portresini büyük kartonlara çizenler, onun gibi giyinenler... Ciddi bir fan kitlesi mevcuttu kısacası. Ayrıca Khalifa ekibi kendisine "Taylor Gang" der. Sloganları da "Taylor Gang or Die" şeklinde geçer, kısaltma olarak da "TGOD" diye kullanırlar. Orada da "Taylor Gang" diye defalarca tezahürat yaptık :)

The front stage people are usually the ones who love the artists and their works. Rarely though, well-off people decide to come because they do not want to hang out in the back squeezed by the others. This audience was only made up of people who loved him. I did not see anyone irrelevant. There were people who had Wiz Khalifa tattoos, posters with his portrait, wearing the same clothes as him. In short, he had a crazy amount of fans. Besides, his fans call themselves "Taylor Gang". Their slogan is "Taylor Gang or Die" shortened as "TGOD". We shout out loud "Taylor Gang" many times :)

En sevdiğim "Black and Yellow, Roll Up, We Dem Boyz, Letterman" gibi şarkıları da seslendirdi. Bir ara hiç bitmeyecek bile sandım. Hem uzun gibi hem de kısa sürmüş gibi hissettim aslında. Kendimizi tamamen ana kaptırdık. Hem dans ettik, hem bir ağızdan şarkıları söyledik, hem de çok eğlendik. Böyle bir şeye ihtiyacımız varmış :) Dönerken çok kalabalık olduğumuz için biraz sıkıntı yaşadık ama konserin mutluluğu ağır basıyordu.

He sang some of my favourite songs such as, "Black and Yellow, Roll Up, We Dem Boyz, Letterman". For a second I thought he would never leave the stage. Actually I both felt that his performance was short but also long. We completely enjoyed the present moment. We danced, we sang, we had fun. It seems that we needed something as such :) It was a bit hard to find transportation while leaving the venue but the happiness caused by the concert outweighed everything.

Milky Chance Konseri (27.06.2018) @ Zorlu PSM

Hello everyone :)

Geçen hafta büyük bir heyecanla Zorlu PSM'deki "Milky Chance" konserine gittim. 2016'da büyük isimlerin de çıktığı Soundgarden festivalinde headline olan bu canım grup kendi sahnesinde çok daha eğlenceli, çok daha iyiydi.

Last week I attended "Milky Chance" concert with the utmost enthusiasm at Zorlu PSM. They were the headline group in Soundgarden 2016 along with other big names but their own tour was a lot better and we had more fun.

Hiç bekletmeden tam vaktinde çıktılar sahneye. Böyle yapan sanatçılara/gruplara bayılıyorum. The Blossom Tour kapsamında ülkemize gelen Milky Chance müzik tarzı olarak çok farklı türü bir arada barındırıyor. Elektronik, pop, folk... Kısacası ne ararsanız onlarda mevcut. Dinlerken de çok büyük zevk alıyorsunuz, onları sahnede izlerken de.

They came to the stage on time. I love such artists/groups. The style of Milky Chance, who came here for The Blossom Tour, has a little bit of everything. Electronic, pop, folk... In short, they have everything you can come up with. You have a great deal of fun both when you listen to them and when you watch them live on the stage.

Alman ikili Clemens ve Philipp dünya çapında oldukça ünlüler. Coachella gibi büyük pek çok festivalde yer alan bu grup daha önce yukarıda belirttiğim festival kapsamında ilk defa ülkemize gelmişlerdi. Bu turneye bizi ekledikleri için çok mutluyum o açıdan.

German duo Clemens and Philipp are famous worldwide. They participated in big festivals such as Coachella and their first time here was also for another festival as I stated above. Therefore, I'm quite happy that they added us to their tour list.

Konsere dair eğlenceli anılarım var. Bunlardan ilki Clemens'in Türkçe bilgilerini konuşturduğu andı. Eskiden Türk bir sevgilisi olmuş ve ondan biraz Türkçe kapmış. Hatırladığım kelimeleri sizinle paylaşmak istiyorum dedi ve söylediği kelimeler: gergedan, aslan, kaplan, eşek şakası vb. hem hatırlaması zor hem de bir dili öğrenen kişinin pek öğrenmeyeceği kelimeler kısacası. Bir de özne ile yüklemi tutturamayıp tatlı tatlı "seni seviyoruz" dediği an vardı, o çok güzeldi işte :)

I have some fun memories from that night. The first one is when Clemens began sharing his Turkish knowledge. He had a Turkish girlfriend back then and he managed to learn some words from her. He told us that he wanted to share the words he could remember and here are them: rhino, lion, tiger, prank, etc. They are both hard to remember and not easy to memorize. I still wonder how he managed to remember them. Then there was a moment where he failed to use the appropriate subject with the verb and he said "I loves you" in the cutest way :)

Philipp bateride harikalar yarattı ama Antonio'yu da es geçemeyeceğim zira kendisi çok güzel mızıka çalıyor. Hatta bir ara hiçbirimiz Clemens'e bakmayıp ona odaklandık. Hepsi hem sahnede çok eğlendi hem de bizi eğlendirdi. İşini severek yapanlar gerçekten belli oluyor.

Phillip was amazing at using the drums but I cannot disregard Antonio who played harmonica very well. At one point we even stopped looking at Clemens and only focused on him. They had fun on the stage and they made sure that we had fun. It becomes quite obvious when someone does their job with love.

Herkes "Sadnecessary" albümüyle tanıyıp sevse de lütfen "Blossom" albümüne de bakın, muazzam parçalar var. "Blossom, Ego, Doing Good, Cold Blue Rain, Cocoon, Peripeteia" benim albümde en sevdiklerim. Daha önce hiç Milky Chance dinlemediyseniz aşağıya hepimizin ilk defa dinleyip sevmeye başladığı şarkıyı bırakıyorum. Sonra gerisi gelecek zaten eminim :)

Even though everyone got to know them and loved them with their album "Sadnecessary", please do check out their "Blossom" album. They have amazing tracks there. My favourites are "Blossom, Ego, Doing Good, Cold Blue Rain, Cocoon, Peripeteia". If you have never listened to Milky Chance before, here I leave the first song that we began to love them. Then the rest will follow, I'm sure :)
